how to further automate drop shipping/order fulfillment

Hello,

As of now my procedure goes as follows. I use OSCommerce and my orders come in to my email. I then forward the email with the order to my drop shipper. They then fulfill the order - and send me a shipment complete email back. I then notify the customer. Once the invoice from the drop shipper is sent to me - I input this and the order total into Quicken manually. Along with paypal fees, etc...

As orders quickly grow - this has become a nightmare.

My question is whether or not there are any programs to further automate this entire ordeal? Online or computer based software. I'm comfortable implementing PHP programs, etc...So - any thoughts?

Do you know of anything that would help me to complete orders quicker, and with less of a hassle? That's my goal. :-)

Thanks.

Setup an "ADI" process or better known today as an "ETL" or data transformation/extraction.

I use Apatar to extract shipping, tracking and transform nightly reports to data that can be imported by our commerce platform.

It can be quite complex and there are better solutions out there than apatar - some "new" ways of doing it are through ETL/BPM packages but they cost big $$.. using a full blown BPM means you architect your business process and use the software/etl tool to do the integration points and rely on that tools workflow and process exception handling to make sure your business rules are meeting the defined expectations. A really cool way to work but not necessarily the most affordable process for a small commerce site.
