What you guys think, which marketing idea actually converts?

I am starting my new ecommerce site, and have been reading about marketing ideas and different opinions. With so many mixed opinions i would like to get some sort of a consensus going. Hopefully it will help others in the forum.

The biggest thing of all:

Merchant Reviews.

Get on reseller Ratings and keep a great score and the rest will follow. If you don't build up a reputation with the community quickly your customer acquisition costs no matter which route you choose to do above will be astronomical.

Unfortunately we waited for a while to offer reseller ratings and now were playing catchup.

It takes a miracle to get a good review and an honest mistake to get a dozen bad reviews so GOOD LUCK ;)

Throwing your hat into the comparison shopping engines is like jumping into shark infested waters. You're going up against deep pockets by offering low prices on a thin margin... you'd just be chumming the waters for the larger established players.
