Blocking Foreign Visitors?
Can I block users outside of North America?

Is there anyway to block foreign visitors from coming to my website?

I run a job-hunting site and you won't believe the number of scam artists I get from overseas trying to defraud my users. It is mostly from the UK, but I suspect they are from Europe, Asia and also Africa.

It's driving me up the wall! All they do is try to pitch phony job offers to people in the U.S. and drain their bank accounts. I remove them from the site and these pests just keep coming back!

You could try and block them by IP but that's no guarantee - IPs can be spoofed if you know how or use a proxy server.

Maybe not so relevant to this particular problem but some international companies with private networks push all their internet traffic through a single gateway so it all appears to come from the same location. From my own site stats the context of some of the overseas visits suggests that some ISPs may be doing the same.

I would you suggest do this blocking anyway. Most average people don't use proxy on daily basis.

Get a list over the IP's you don't want and redirect them to a site telling, that "This site i offline at the moment, please come back later" :)

Geo-location blocking is also a helpful tool.
