Today, I just read that Mike Robertson - a man whom I've considered the anchor of Fabulous (and one of the last reasons for me staying with Fab after the company's take over), has now left Fabulous/DBS.
"Monte -> Meet Mike. Mike -> Meet Monte."
Now, get together and get something going . . so I can sign up.
Surely Monte has an air tight non-compete. Not having one means Monte could easily gut Moniker just by opening another shop.
Would he even if he could? I'm sure lots of folks would like that. A counterpoint - I once created a business with a parter, that got bought out. Over the years the new business has done some things wrong. Now the non-compete has ended and both my former partner and the person who instigated the buyout (who's no longer with the company that bought us) have suggested they'd like to start up the same thing and compete. I declined, I wasn't interested in going back 5 years in time. Quite possibly Monte's got other things he'd like to do moving forward rather than having all of us fans follow him from company to company :).
I do think though that there seems to still be some opportunity in the domain reg. business.
I think Moniker has went downhill in the last few years. I would be getting away from that as well. Their new name should be MoNOker. Their account reps never seem to help with anything and offer one word email replies.
