Redirecting a keyword domain doubts for ranking benefit

Have 3 questions about this one:

1. Can a domain which you use for the sole purpose of redirecting be indexed by search engines? if so...

2. Can this mentioned in point 1 (in this case a KW domain) rank well for this specific KW if you put a bit of external link building into it.

3. Also, can redirecting a keyword domain give any benefit for that specific KW in search engine ranking?

Cheers!
