Worries about Snapnames auction system

The past half dozen or so domains I've backordered on Snapnames have had 3-4 interested parties none of whom are interested over $100 for any of them.

Problem is that just before the auction ends, some user (generally called something like jo8839289987) suddenly comes in and bids right up to just below my max bid setting.

Too many times now to be co-incidence, right?

With domains going for $$$$ at auctions, what safeguards are in place to stop companies like Snapnames simply pushing up all the bids to get as much cash as possible out of each transaction? How do we know who is bidding against us?
