aish1108 I have no idea who you paying 10 bucks for a private option for but that is crazy. Mine does it for free if I elect to go private but don't.

Sorry, aish, but per the Domain Forum Charter [webmasterworld.com] we don't allow threads that call for members to suggest, endorse, vote for, etc. a domain service provider - even those that may provide a "free" service. We also don't allow "search this phrase" response as it's the same thing by another device. Such threads become open doors for forum spamming. (Not saying, at all, that such is your intent.)
Now, the idea of performing a "cost benefit analysis" of registering typos of your website's domain name . . . THAT's a discussion worth having. ;)
Regarding estimating traffic aren't you able to track the referrers from the 301 re-direct of your other domain? If so, then I would use that data and compare the results of other common(?) misspellings of your website's "root" words/letters to get an idea of the volume to be expected.
Example: Lawyer? Laywer? Lwyer?

I just checked the domain in the GoDaddy control panel and for some reason I set it up 3 years ago as a 302 instead of a 301.
I use Google Analytics and AWstats for my main website. I've often wondered why I've never seen any stats for the misspelled domain. Though it was a bit odd. I guess the 302 isn't considered a refferer?

I think 302 still counts as a referrer, maybe the typo traffic was just too negligible to notice?
Depending on how popular your site is and how stiff the competition, perhaps you don't need 10 more typo domains.

Well, I'm not sure why I can't find any data in Google analytic Referer report.
Regardless, I ended up setting up the domain with Google Adsense for Domains. I figured this way I'd get an basic idea of how many people are landing on the page.
Plus, I've always been curious how much money the domain is worth as a parked domain, (Someone else owns a VERY common typo for my domain....) and now I have an idea.
I think I'm not going to renew the domain I own and I'm not going to buy the typos
However if you own say an e-commerce website where a returning visitor is worth more then a few cents. I'd imagine someone typing in your domain in the address bar is probably a returning visitor, well then as Webwork says above
