Interesting story about Tiroler Tageszeitung - its really unusual to see a newspaper that was switched on enough to get a really good domain. Especially a non-english language one. It would be an interesting excercies to see what percentage of two letter .coms are non english language sites.

The branding of the ubiquitous software--one of the most popular ever, WordPerfect--precedes WordPress. It's been around since 1980. It'll take a generation for that to fade. BTW, WordPress was already #2 for WP on Google. I remember that from when I used to want to visit the Washington Post website. Even so, I think sites that get visited all the time are best off with the shortest domains. Although most people use bookmarks for sites they frequent. p/g
