Transferring my domain
Domain transfer affecting search engine rankings?

Can anyone tell me if I will lose my high search engine rankings by transferring my website from one hosting company to another. Apparently the website would be down for about 24 to 48 hours. Specifically how would this affect my Google rankings?

Thanks,

Dave

In theory it shouldn't as long as the site isn't down for an extended amount of time. Google indexes pretty quickly now (I've seen in about 15 minutes) so you might disappear during that time but you'll come back when the new site gets re-indexed.

In fact, it is possible it could improve your rankings since the site would have been "recent" with the new host.
