I have the following query which uses mssql 2000 full text search but still shows up as a massive 400+ on the sql profiler and over 20,000 reads. The db table is large (300,000+ posts) but I thought the point of the full text service was to make this sort of search doable. Can anyone suggest a way to do this kind of full text search without such high CPU usage (whatever 400 means anyway? 400%?!)

select top 30 a.forumid, a.guestname,a.email,a.topicid,a.id,a.subject,a.replycount,a.lastreplydate, a.hits, c.Forumname ,a.message from post a, forum c where c.categoryid in (0,1,5,11) and a.topicid=0 and (CONTAINS(message, ' "blah blah keywords" ') or CONTAINS(subject, ' "blah blah keywords" ')) and a.forumid=c.id order by lastreplydate
