30MB MYSQL Processes?

Looking around the "top" output of my server I notice that I have around 20-30 MYSQLD processes running each with 20-38MB of ram usage.

Is this normal? It seems to be killing my server.

That seems to be very high. You might want to check your code for unclosed query objects and other opportunities for "memory leakage."
