CSS Values and Units Module Level 3 [w3.org] (Candidate Recommendation, July 30)
This CSS3 module describes the common values and units that CSS properties accept and the syntax used for describing them in CSS property definitions.


Especially of note are these:

Relative lengths
  • Font-relative lengths: the 'em', 'ex', 'ch', 'rem' units
  • Viewport-percentage lengths: the 'vw', 'vh', 'vmin', 'vmax' units

    Absolute lengths
  • Familiar 'cm', 'mm', 'in', 'pt', 'pc', 'px' units

    Other units
  • Angles
  • Times
  • Frequencies
  • Resolutions

    Functional notations
  • Mathematical Expressions: 'calc()'
  • Toggling Between Values: 'toggle()'
  • Attribute References: 'attr()'
  •
