3 columns layout

Msg#: 4287214 posted 5:02 am on Mar 25, 2011 (gmt 0)

hello all, I'm really stuck with a css layout design, I hope some experts here can bring me some good ideas.

here's what i need to achieve. a full image 1920*1200 to be used as background, the content will be in the middle centered, shadow underneath the content edges and it sit on top of the background image (imagine as different layer).

The content has a header image 1260*205, and it's not design to extend or expand. horizontal menu underneath the header, and followed by a "paper" look design background image for the actual text area.

I need to achieve when the browser size around 1280*1024, it will fit the entire content area. when the browser size increase, then the background image will start appearing on both side of the content area (similar idea to resizing the background when browser size changes.)

I'm sorry for the very messy description, a similar website as example is [bigpond.com.au...]

Thanks in advance.

Hi menora, and welcome to WebmasterWorld :)

I didn't think the description messy - well it made sense to me ;).

If I have it right, you are aiming for a "fixed-width centred" layout (for your content) with a "100% background-image". A search on both those terms should give you lots of ideas about how to achieve what you want.
