there is only one way to get unique content...

write it.

either write it yourself or pay someone else to.

Also beware user generated content... all too often a well-meaning user will copy info from another site and paste it on yours...

...yeah thats why we decided a while back to have our content only put online after it has been reviewed by our editors, although we reduced the amount of articles to only about 2 a week, those are greatly awaited by the masses, as they are really unique, interesting and entertaining...

It also happens that now the work of the writers are prominently featured on the frontpage for at least 3 days, and this seems to be big with our writers, its a boost to their ego, reputation etc.. just seems to be nice, to have one piece of article we can discuss talk for a few days before we move on to the next, also gives it a chance to circulate in the social media presence...

...to get back to your initial questions, we started with giving away books for free, book reviews is a good start and its cheap, 20 bucks and we get a free article, once you are bigger you get them from the publishing houses for free, so we dont pay anyhting for our unique content...
