What is content management system?

It means a lot of things to a lot of people, but in general, it's a platform that lets you manage content on your website, usually including user permissions and things like that.

This is as opposed to a managing your site content manually with a collection of files (static or dynamic) and an FTP client.

CMS is a user friendly site creation to allow users to share data's, a large number of people contributing in one place, easy to store and get back and all.
