Newsletter production in WordPress
looking for a good newsletter creation widget

I have a client who wants to move a website from a proprietary CMS to WordPress. The only feature I am stuck re-creating is his newsletter management tool.

Today, the publish only headlines and links in a design that matches the website, but they have customization options that allow them to select stories and insert special items (like ad code or announcements). So it's not that complicated. But it's a little more advanced than what some people do with WordPress --- which is to just grab the RSS and package it as a newsletter.

Where I'm stuck is that the editor needs to be able to choose articles from the CMS -- I can't expect them to generate and copy HTML.

I have looked at MeeNews, and MailPress and Aweber.

MeeNews has the right features. You can select current posts to add. But it looks unfinished -- menus are half in English, half Spanish. End-users will find this frightening. Maybe I can get it to work for us, but it seems so raw that I'm worried it is buggy.

Mailpress does not let you add posts. You are given a blank text field to enter posts.

Aweber has a good tool. It is based on an RSS feed but it gives the editor an option to remove some posts. And the client would have to leave Constant Contact, where he is happy.

Anyone find a solution for this? I am surprised there are so few options for creating newsletters in WordPress. Or am I missing something?
