Wordpress | Category-Specific Templates

In Wordpress, if I create a category-specific template for the category "medical," will that template also be applied to posts I create in sub-categories "/doctors/" and "/surgeons/," assuming there are no other category-specific templates for those sub-categories?

I don't believe WordPress provides function tags for determining child categories. BUT you could write your own logic to determine these.

Wordpress have this function, but you should install a plugin.
