you might be able to discover clues using the advanced search features on google and use a custom date range. you can sometimes discover publication dates or at least get a rough idea from the wayback machine.

- in any google search results page click "Show search tools" and you will see options to specify a date range. - search for "wayback machine" and see if they have anything archived for that website.
