Hi Guys,

My business is expanding into Europe I have a main website which I wish to use for my .FR and .DE Domains. I want the european sites to have the same design as my main brand which is highly ranked on Google. What I would like to know is, if I use the same design but with translated text would Google class this as a duplicate site? hence running the risk of 1 getting removed from the serps.

Am I right to presume Google would treat this as an individual site?

I would also like to know what I need to do in webmaster tools to ensure my main site is not affected on the serps in any way.

I really would appreciate your help on this.

Thanks

Juanne

I've been facing this issue today as I had one of my sites (which ranked quite high) and a top level domain which had the site's layout but with some added unique content and all links linking to the main site.

What happened since I verified the top level domain was that my main site's index page got delisted completely in SERPs.

I don't know if that was the reason for the delisting but I have since removed the 'mirror' site and had to ask for a reconsideration. I would suggest keeping the content 100% unique even if it's in a different language. Hope this helps.

Please ignore my previous post. Tedster helpfully pointed out in another thread that different languages aren't affected in Google. :)
