Wordpress - allow users to request new roles?
Question about wordpress

Is there a wordpress plugin or option that allows users (by default of the role 'subscriber' ie no privileges), to request a new role (e.g. author)? Of course I'd want it so that they can't just make themselves editor or whatever, I'd need it so they request the new role and an admin (such as me) approves it (the website I'm running is for a group of trusted people).

BTW, tell me if there's a good wordpress-specific forum as the wordpress.com forum doesn't seem very active.

Thanks very much
Fela

Fela,

Wordpress by default has five roles to which you can assign, Subscriber, Contributor, Author, Editor, and Administrator. I'm not aware of a plugin that automates a request for a change in status, typically that would be done with some kind of personal contact (e.g., email) explaining to the site admin why such a change is warranted (e.g., ready to submit a guest post).
