Twitter Outage

Is anyone else seeing a lengthy Twitter outage, not even so much as a fail whale? I'm seeing some bloggers reporting this.

Normally I'd check Twitter to see if a major site was really down, but, ummm...

I have sites that allow no access outside of Western Europe and North America.
Keeps a lot of junk out. Permanently.

At the risk of derailing the topic for a minute, I'm sure there's a heap of us who would like to do the same, but I thought it wasn't that easy to do, - and that it wasn't done by IP blocking. Any info you can supply?

Seems as though Twitter is back down again. And traceroutes are failing again at the same name servers as yesterday: *.us.bb.gin.ntt.net

Statements by Twitter reps in their API development Google Group tell that the attack is ongoing. The situation is getting annoying.

Responding to Site Downtime
[status.twitter.com...]

We're working to recover from a site outage and will update as we learn more.

Here we go again. I wonder what is going on this time? They had a Koobface worm attack over the weekend and of course the ongoing DDoS which is probably the core of the problem. :(

Okay, I expect to see @rogerdooley, @netmeg, @g1smd and a few others over here shortly. :)

Here we go again. They've been down for the past 10 minutes now. Others are now writing Blog posts about the outage.

I think I know what is happening too. I was the victim of 50+ #*$! Followers in the past 24 hours. Not only I, but many others. Me thinks someone is wreaking havoc on their platform again.

Traceroute's are failing at same point again. Looks just like the DoS attacks from before.

This time they are serving valid 503 errors to API clients though, so they've definitely made changes on that end.

Don't know if it's related this time or not but I've had intermittent problems with facebook in the last few hours as well...

Wow! Back up already. Looks like a ~20 minute outage at most. Nice work, Twitter engineers. :)

Same here. Mostly timeouts and AJAX errors.

Damn! Twitter is broken today. Timelines are frozen in time. I figured I'd bring it over here. Anyone around? ;)

Anyone getting bored with Twitter yet? I know this downtime is becoming a real pain in the arse. Each time it happens, I lose a little more interest in the service.

Twitter is down for the count right now. Apparently $100 million in funding isn't enough to fix the infrastructure that has been broken for who knows how long.

Twitter have had problems now for the past week. Fail Whale has been making regular appearances and I believe we have an entire Pod or two swimming about.

How long before those of us in the 10% who generate 90% of the Tweets find another fix?
