phpBB Dynamic Ad Serving
Serving ads by categories in phpBB

I've been unable to get an answer at phpBB and I thought I'd ask the community before I reinvent the wheel and have it developed. At one time there was a mod that served up ads by each category. So if I had 3 widget categories: blue widget forum, red widget forum, green widget forum...an advertiser could advertise on just one of the categories. I can't seem to find the mod anywhere and I've searched google hard. I'm assuming it's under a name that's not matching my keywords.

Has anyone used or seen this mod lately?

I think phpAdsNew (open source) has a URL-based delivery capability, but I haven't used that feature. For only three forums, though, you could easily set up three different zones and manage the ads that each zone gets.

Thanks for the response. I do use OpenAds (name changed) but I'm looking for a way to serve up different ads per category.

Say if the forum is on Widgets with the following categories:

Blue W.
Red W.
Green W.

I'd like to advertise different banners for each category. This would have to be a function in phpBB. There was a mod started years back but it has either disappeared, left unsupported and died, or is under a name I can't seem to find.

The one you're looking for is called forum sponsors and is available on phpBB's site.

I knew it existed under a phrase I didn't know.

Thanks!
