Is that adsense ads you're talking about? don't they know themselves how many impressions they send?
If its other text ads - what type of impression counter can they run on YOUR site?

I run AdSense plus my own direct advertising, and it's my direct ads I was talking about.
If I let Googlebot crawl thru the ads, which are embedded in the page, it can run up the impression and click count.

Oh, my, just re-read it and I think I understand.
"I run AdSense plus my own direct advertising".
If they have their own click count, they can run the direct ads count too. Gotcha.
