how can a web surfer stop from being redirected to another website when he clicks on a specific link,

in other words, links often take you to a website that you were not trying to get to, i tried disabling javascript, but it didn't work,

how can i stop the redirecting and get to the right website?

In most cases, the website you expected has chosen to redirect you; usually because they have no content, and they get 0.000003 of a cent for redirecting you.

The problem is in your expectations. In most cases, the site providing the link knew exactly what they were doing. You cannot stop it happening ... but you will get to learn about the kind of site that offers that deception.

If the redirection is happening via a meta tag refresh, some browsers allow you to turn that feature off.
