Archive in "Blog" or on "Site"

I'm looking for some advice on how the handle Blog archives.
First off, I'm not using any Blog software. I just designed a page layout and added it to a "blog" folder.
The website is a small editorial information site that targets a specific niche.
My initial plan is to post several articles on the "Blog" page before moving them to archives.
Most "blog" articles are location specific as are the existing pages on the site. Existing article are written mainly in 3rd person. "Blog" articles are mixed 1st person and 3rd person.
I'm wondering if archiving the blog posts separately from the main content will cause confusion for users.
Or should I forget about "blog" and call the new pages something else .. or should I just add the pages without any special treatment.
