Blog unique URL vs. /blog/ PHP vs. Windows

Here is the scenario -

My blog is currently "myblog.com" instead of oursite.com/blog - the site itself is hosted on a windows server - my blog is wordpress and resides on another server to support PHP/Wordpress. My IT group has said we cannot add the blog as oursite.com/blog because they do not want PHP on the server where the site resides stating it is a security issue. The best case scenario would be for me to have the blog off the site as a sub-folder oursite.com/blog/ .... can anyone out there offer any suggestions on whether or not the answer I am getting is true or not?

Thanks!
