Yahoo Japan expects 5.7% profit decrease in 2nd half
Yahoo Japan Corp. announced its group operating profit for the October-March period is expected to fall 5.7 percent from a year before, the first decline for the company's fiscal second half since its establishment in 1996.
Operating profit is projected at ¥95.15 billion, the company said Friday.
The decrease reflects the company's decision to make its Yahoo! Shopping website free of store tenant fees starting this month.
This is the price of competing with rival shopping networks. This tactic was pretty successful in getting eBay to drop out of the Japan market...twice.
