I haven't had much luck fixing this, so I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone could lend a hand.

I'm trying to see whether I can get Yahoo Japan Messenger to run on some multi-protocol instant messaging clients like Trillian, Digsby, Pidgin, etc.

Quite a while ago I was able to get Trillian to work by setting the server like this:
Server: cs.yahoo.co.jp
Port: 5050

However, that doesn't seem to be working lately. Does anyone know of any other servers and/or ports to connect to for Yahoo Japan IM?

Thanks! I actually came across that ticket in my searches for a solution for this. :) There aren't many people doing this judging from the SERPs. I find people asking for a solution but no solutions are being offered.

Did you ever have Yahoo Japan IM working on Pidgin?

To be honest, I am not sure. It might have worked but it is equally likely I never tried until the time I opened that ticket. If it ever worked, it must have been at the time when pidgin was still gaim 1.x Maybe it's worth a try to download an old version.

My guess is that Yahoo Japan changed the server in some way. They might have simply been trying to thwart people not using their software.

Bill, I believe I just successfully connected to Yahoo Japan with Pidgin 2.5.2.

How did you manage that?
I just checked and the current version of Pidgin is 2.5.4 for Windows. I don't have Pidgin installed anywhere now so I can't test.

Just go through the account options. As I said, I'm not sure I really am successfully connected. I have yet to test.
