Exite Japan and Infoseek Japan directories
How to be listed in their directories?

 3:30 pm on Jun 25, 2008 (gmt 0)

I noted that both Excite Japan and Infoseek Japan have their own directory.

Do you know the procedure to be listed there?

I haven't looked at those in years. I've got listings in both that have been there since the 90s, but they hardly send me any traffic.

  • Excite Japan has their directory here: [excite.co.jp...]
They used to be powered by LookSmart, however it appears that they have their own service now called Xlisting.

This Xlisting [xlisting.co.jp] site offers listings with a lot of the big Japanese ISP sites' directories and regular SERP listings.

  • Infoseek has its directory here: [directory.infoseek.co.jp...]

Infoseek is very tied in with Rakuten, and their directory is so full of Rakuten shopping tie-ins that it's hard for me to use. To sign up for a listing you need to use a Rakuten ID.

    Thank you Bill!

I was curious because I found some sites ranking fine in my niche in those directories. Maybe there is no correlation...

I'd be very interested to hear if either of those directories were functioning as a significant traffic generator.
