Rumors always abound on IPOs, but the latest unverified rumor I heard was Blackstone is set to buy 33% of Baidu. Anyone else hear anything about this?

Seen nothing like it. Seems unlikely that Baidu would be interested, as they are growing well and increasing both market share and profit. They have much government support as the main 'home grown' SE - they'd lose that if they allowed heavy foreign investment. All things are possible, however ;)

Didn't the Chinese govt just take a stake in the gwailo equity fund? So things are not so tricky as you imagine, IMHO...

Well, if Blackstone would buy Baidu with a higher rate than Baidu can expect, why would not Baidu sell its stake?
Who knows!
