How to configure a port other than 80 in Apache

Hi everyone.
Can someone help me by pointing me to the right way of configuring a port other than the default one (80) in Apache for PHP applications? For instance something like http://subdomain.domain.gov.bi:8081/
How do I configure the 8081 port in Apache? Is it safe for a web application to use port 80?

Thanks for your great help

you will need the Listen directive and probably willl need to do something with the VirtualHost container.

note that both of these directives require access to the server config.

Configuring Apache HTTP Server to listen on specific addresses and ports:
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/bind.html [httpd.apache.org]
