I posted this on the Wordpress forum - as a response to another .htaccess problem. I am now informed that this is an Apache question.

My issue is that after an update my wordpress site has a permalink structure of my-site.com/blog/my-page-url. This has caused a problem in that before I had my own custom permalink structure which was my-site.com/mycategory/my-page-url

The result of which is no small amount of frustration for my visitors.

This is the .htaccess file which is relevant to Wordpress:

My .htaccess file looks like this:

# BEGIN WordPress
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>
# END WordPress

I was informed by Lucy24 that I should hae a slash in front of the index.php (someone on the Wordpress forum said removing it would help). However this has not changed the issue and I still cannot change the structure of my permalinks to what they were before (ie. custom permalinks).

Is there anything you guys can suggest? Thanks.
