url rewriting with htaccess

Hi all,

i am very new to url re-writing using htaccess..

i had googled and tried few lines of code..but none works


i want to re-write the below url
[localhost ]

to


[localhost ]

I'm a newbie in htaccess..please help me to sort it

Rule #1: Use www.example.com (or .net or .org) in all your examples to prevent the link from being obfuscated. This is a rule all over the WebmasterWorld forums. But it is especially important in Apache because we need to see what you wrote, not go to your site!

There are more rules and also some reading matter in the Forums Library and Charter- the tiny little links at the top of this page, right above "Apache Web Server Forum".

Let's see what you have tried so far, and what happens when you try. Not simply "it doesn't work" but in what way it doesn't work.
