Hi all,

I noticed that my wampserver on my localhost has stopped working for sometime now.

Anytime I type "http://localhost" or 127.0.01 it doesn't open up. the preloader just keeps loading for more than 30mins or more without opening.

Pls can someone help me out?

Thanks!

What is a "preloader"?

There should be logs in the apache2\logs\ folder to help diagnose.

If there aren't any recent entries, see when the last entry was and consider whether you made any system changes since then.

I don't think a firewall would block it, but it might if you're on a local network, so check firewall logs.

Antivirus program might block what it considers a "suspicious process" attempting to launch, so check AV logs, too.

Thanks SteveWh, I'll check ur suggestions out.

JdMorgan,
A preloader is an animation that shows that ur page is still loading. For example when u open a page with firefox browser u'll see a small spinning circle.

In IE its usually a green bar loading by ur lower right

Other than the obvious warnings, it looks similar to my error log (slightly older Apache 2.2.4 and components installed independently, not wampserver package). Here is a session log:

I'm no expert on interpreting these logs, but it looks to me like your Apache is starting ok and is listening. Your PHP seems to be configured differently (perhaps as CGI? mine is as Apache module. Your log mentions PHP in the startup line; mine doesn't.).

If your pages are .php, maybe PHP isn't processing them and thus nothing is output. Try setting your php error reporting to display errors, put an intentional error in one of your pages, try to load it, and then check your Apache access log to see if the page request was logged and if the PHP error was logged.

Basically, you need to determine if your request to localhost is going to 127.0.0.1 (check Windows hosts file), and if a request to 127.0.0.1 directly is being "handled correctly" (I'm vague about that because I don't know what part of the system routes those requests), whether Apache is receiving and logging the request, and whether it is correctly invoking PHP to preprocess the page.

Do you have skype in your pc if then port 80 conflicts with skype ! just do the following steps

In Skype go to Tools-->Options --> Advanced --> Connection uncheck the option --> Use port 80 and 443 as alternatives for incoming connections, that's it

And restart skype and wamp !

Hope it will work

Thanks
Mahabub
