Need a bit of a help

basically i need
http://www.example.com/basics

to be redirected to the root index.php page
http://www.example.com/index.php?category=basics

this is my .htaccess

Options -Indexes
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^basics/$ /index.php?category=basics [L]

Any help as always greatly appreciated

Given your example URL, the regular-expressions pattern "^basics/$" does not match the requested URL-path "basics" because the trailing slash required by the pattern is not present.
