I admit to knowing less about canonical urls than I should, but this pretty much makes me think there must be a redirect. Because the vast majority of traffic is coming to that latter URL, I need to figure out if this is a problem in any way. I guess I'm thinking that if there is another URL, and most people are going to that, the redirect doesn't matter - we need to either resort to that URL or figure out how to get people to recognize the new URL/brand. Advice please - is this a problem?

The two most obvious places to look are: --your site's htaccess file --your in-progress headers using a utility such as Firefox's Live Headers If people request the wrong form of a page name, then it is correct to redirect them, since the alternative leads to Duplicate Content. If your site itself links to the wrong form of a page name, you need to fix the code. If you are using a cms that auto-generates links in the wrong form and then redirects to the right form, get a different cms.
