Dumb Newbie Post About Redirects It looks like I have a redirect - should I try to get rid of it? DigitalDionne msg:4547130 3:54 pm on Feb 20, 2013 (gmt 0) I just started managing a website and I'm seeing this: / /Default.asp?Redirected=Y in my main traffic overview. I admit to knowing less about canonical urls than I should, but this pretty much makes me think there must be a redirect. Because the vast majority of traffic is coming to that latter URL, I need to figure out if this is a problem in any way. I guess I'm thinking that if there is another URL, and most people are going to that, the redirect doesn't matter - we need to either resort to that URL or figure out how to get people to recognize the new URL/brand. Advice please - is this a problem?

Oops, I should have mentioned: This is all taking place on Google Analytics. lucy24 msg:4547264 12:44 am on Feb 21, 2013 (gmt 0)
There is absolutely no way that anyone reading your post can provide any more information. Only you can do that. The two most obvious places to look are: --your site's htaccess file --your in-progress headers using a utility such as Firefox's Live Headers If people request the wrong form of a page name, then it is correct to redirect them, since the alternative leads to Duplicate Content. If your site itself links to the wrong form of a page name, you need to fix the code. If you are using a cms that auto-generates links in the wrong form and then redirects to the right form, get a different cms. phranque msg:4547402 12:04 pm on Feb 21, 2013 (gmt 0)
welcome to WebmasterWorld, DigitalDionne! have you checked your server access log file and/or your analytics data to find the source of those requests for redirect urls. Andy Langton msg:4547404 12:13 pm on Feb 21, 2013 (gmt 0)
Are you using a shopping cart system called Volusion?
