How to Look at % Exits in GA

We've just redesigned our category pages, and I am just confused with GA

Normally GA colors show a % change as green if it thinks it is a good thing -- e.g. if the pageviews increased, average time on page increased, bounce rate declined.

GA shows the % change as red if it thinks it is not a good thing -- e.g. visits declined, average page declined, bounce rate went up

But why does it show an increase in % Exit as green, and shows a decrease in % Exit as red? Don't you want to see your % Exit for that page decline?

When the % Exit of a page changes from 61.5% to 70.91%, why does GA shows the % change of 15.3% as green?

I know that visitors have to exit somewhere somehow. But our goal when we redesigned the category pages was to better showcase the content we have for that category. So we don't want people leaving from the category pages.

Can someone enlighten me with this? I think I need more coffee :o)
