I don't have an answer, just want to chime in - double-aaarg. If that's really true (and I definitely trust Chewy's problem solving ability) then it is a huge take-back of a feature on GA's part.

I hope to see some third party type solution unless there is still development going on. Wasn't there a running list somewhere of requested features that are or were process.
Like PDF Reports that finally (hooray!) got built in?

What about changing the Advanced Filter to 'Matches Regular Expression' and using a pipe?
I noticed the same thing initially, but then realized that the field no longer accepts RegEx (unless you specify that it's a RegEx).
Try filtering for RegEx (thank-you|ty)
