Conflicts between ways of filtering

Msg#: 4417998 posted 11:21 am on Feb 15, 2012 (gmt 0)

I want to determine how many conversations my website gets through facebook.

I have done it in two different ways, but both methods gives me different results.

Method 1:
Traffic sources -> Referrals -> Write "Facebook" in the input box to filter it just for Facebook.
This gives me
40.000 visits and 20 transactions

Method 2: Advanced segment
I have created an advanced segment where source contains facebook.com. (I have also tested it with matches and matches regular expressions with same results)
This gives me
30.000 and 63 transactions

As you can see, there are first of all a conflict between the results and also between the relation of the two metrics.

Even when i apply method 2 on method 1, it gives me the results as method 2.
