My logs are showing more connections from Iphone than Internet Explorer.

I just looked at 2 day's worth of logs on a new server and it shows 29570 hits with "iphone" in the user agent and only 20165 hits with "msie" in the user agent.
I simply don't believe that it's reporting the iphone usage correctly.
Our web server has the iphone down <2% of our total connections. I believe that far more than 40ish%.
I thought I read somewhere how the iphone (or maybe just safari in general) does extra connections for each step of the handshake process, or something.
I'm thinking that it could be 10x the real number of connections.
