Google Analytics: Benefits of Asynchronous Snippet Update

I'm currently using Google Analytics on my Wordpress site and I'm considering using the new "asynchronous snippet." Are there any risks associated with the newer version, and if so, how do they compare with the benefits?

Google claims that it provides faster tracking times and enhanced accuracy - can any of you substantiate this?

Thanks

I can't think of any downside, but the benefits could be potentially significant depending on the site. I've experienced some pretty big load time lags with the old snippet, which the new snippet alleviates.
