Statcounter Vs. Google Analytics
why statcounter and google analytics show different number of visitors?

 12:01 pm on Jun 27, 2007 (gmt 0)

I have a site on which both statcounter and Google analytics is implemented.

Its wondering statcounter shows per day more than 500 unique visitors and Google analytics shows about 250 visitors everyday! How this possible? Does conversion code was implemented wrong or other reason?

Can anybody throw the light on this query?

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thank you.

tracking visitors is very, very hard, different systems use different methods, also different ways of assessing as to if a visitor is real or a robot (or some don't even try to work this out)

hence no two tracking systems will give the same results

I have a similar situation. AWSTATS shows 500 unique visitors. Analytics shows 277 unique visitors. From there AWSTATS at least triples what Analytics shows. Judging from bandwidth, I'm more inclined to believe AWSTATS. It's a new site and would help to know which one is closer to reality.

Does Google use their Analytic results in calculating PageRank?

GA has no affect on page rank.

Aw stats is raw logs and counts all sorts of random visits. GA will give you a realistic traffic count. I usualy take a number in the middle of the 2.

Thanks all for your relpy.

I found that I put statcounter code twise in my pages, does this create any effect for visitors count?
