It works fine except for this: a high percentage of Yahoo Search Marketing clicks show no referring domain. I can still tell they are YSM clicks because they contain the ovraw and ovkey tags that Yahoo appends to the URL. But I canít tell the domain.
Is this because they referring domain is doing something to hide? If so, what are they doing?
Some percentage of Google AdWords and natural search clicks also show no referring domain, but the percentages are much, much lower than from YSM.
YSM is widely suspected to have many dodgy search partners, and I am advertising on high-priced keywords. My other accounts with low-priced keywords donít have this problem.
Does anyone know if and how search partners can hide themselves so my tracking system cannot see them?
Soemone may tell me I am wrong, but Overture (I mean YSM) will not tell you which search partner sent you your traffic. Their search partner ads go through YSM's own database first, so you lose the referrer data anyway.
Now - you would THINK that if yo are buying traffic, they would allow you to add "ovsite" to the tracking url or a similar variable so you could verify the partner quality for yourself. Wouldn't you?
