Wowd (Beta) Opens its doors [reuters.com]
Wowd, a new real-time search engine for discovering fresh, popular content from the entire Web, announced today public access to its beta.
The company, founded in 2007, has built a new kind of real-time search engine that focuses on discovery, i.e. surfacing trends, breaking news, social media topics, and popular pages from around the Web.

Spyware's coming of age?
Those who download the Wowd browser application anonymously nominate public Web pages for inclusion in Wowd simply by visiting them.

Wowd delivers search results that real people find interesting.

Oh Joy ... a search engine for Facebook.

I'm not too worried about the "social web" .. My experience is such that says that people bore easily, and searching for "when someone washes the car park" will get old.

Sites like Wowd, will do us all the good turn of diverting all of the internet rubbish into one area so that those of us that want to learn something, or find something, won't have to look at it ..
