How come my new site that's only 4 weeks old has a alexa ranking of 3 million yet the 1 year old site that gets 10x more traffic has a alexa ranking of 6 million. Is alexa just completly useless and i shouldn't even waste my time thinking about it?

Start visiting the other site more often, and watch the figures tumble. I'm serious. Try it for two weeks. That's EXACTLY how completely useless Alexa is. Alexa scores are utterly dependent on visits by alexa toolbar users; very largely webmasters and geeks, with a scattering odf well-meaning teeenagers. Alexa's ability to tell you ANYTHING about YOUR, GENUINE visitors is precisely zero.
