Affiliate Catalogs into website and Google penalties
Need advice on how to avoid duplicate content penalties with catalog feeds

 1:01 am on Apr 7, 2012 (gmt 0)

I have large affiliate catalog feeds integrated into my website.
Even if have original content too, the original content / affiliate content ratio is not balanced. Let's say I have 90,000 product pages (dynamically generated from search select boxes) and 3,000 pages of original content.

Do you know a way to escape the Google penalties (especially seen the latest Google algorithm updates) when you have large affiliate catalogs on your site? Of course rewriting all the products descriptions is a mission impossible.
Is there any viable options? Or the only way is to quit affiliate catalogs?

Any feedbacks on this matter from affiliates adding catalogs to their sites would be strongly appreciated.

If you want to 100% safe then allow original content to crawl and disallow all affiliate catalog pages.

And don't forget to link your catalog pages from your original content pages; so you can get traffic to your original content pages for your affiliate products as well :)

One hint, if you want to index your affiliate content pages: Visit squidoo.

You need to make your affiliate content pages unique (from search engines point of view at least). Visit Squidoo, to get hint how to do it.
