I have recently been contacted by a PR firm to promote a new product being released for the holiday season next month. They want me to run a contest and winners will get trinkets provided by them.
I will do the promotion just as a way to build a relationship with this company but also it will be nice to give free stuff to my readers, but I have not understood if I will be paid to do so. They have been asking for "promotional value" which I do not really know how to calculate. They mentioned something about monthly page impressions. Does it mean that I will be paid this much amount of money or is it just for the PR firm to calculate the value of their promotion? I want to make sure that I give them the correct value so that if I do get paid, I get paid enough to send free traffic their way.

While no one responded, I found the answer. The promotional value is simply for tracking purposes and I got paid nothing.

sounds like they want an estimate of what the advertising would cost, if they paid you for it.
